our first design

When Petit Nord started designing leather and fur products for children in 1998 our first collection was the sealskin collection.

All the sealskin we use in our designs originates from Greenland and this materials has been used for clothing in the Nordic countries for many centuries.

an unique expression

Ever since we sold our first pairs of sealskin shoes the collection has developed and today it covers different models of shoes, mittens, helmets and purses.

Our sealskin collection is more than our other collections expressed by the material.

The sealskin is a pure natural material with so much its own expression, that nothing is alike.

Two products are never similar as the colours and patterns of the sealskins vary a lot from skin to skin.

natural warmth

Besides these characters of the material, you can be sure that your child will be kept warm in sealskin as the material is wind tight and warm and at the same time enables the skin to breath.

It is a practical and very durable product which gives an ordinary day a touch of luxury.

ethic standards

In Greenland the seals are a natural part of the living and people eat the seals and sell the skins for clothing.

As a clear policy Petit Nord only use skin and furs from animals, where the meat has been used for food.

There has been much focus on sealskin  around the world and recently EU has introduces new regulations, which only allows 'Inuit Seal skins' from Greenland to enter the EU borders. Petit Nord, of course, complies with these regulations.

In our ethic page you can read all about our policy to sealskin and how we only use sealskin from grown up seals.
